Persevering Pastor is a cornucopia of musings that are meant to encourage those in ministry to not give up in the race for Christ as our prize. It comes from one who still has moments of struggle but basically is enamored by Christ's call to live for His glory.
And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. (Rom 5:3-6)
Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel. (Psalm 69:6)

Encouraning Meetings
Occasionally we have the chance to meet those who are great encouragements to us. This past week I was able to attend the Gospel Coalition conference in Chicago. What a thrill it is to be preached to. Often I do not have that kind of opportunity. But this week I heard from Tim Keller, John Piper, Phil Ryken, Mark Driscoll,K Edward Copeland, Bryan Chappel, Josh Harris, C J Mahaney, Ajith Fernando, Ligon Duncan, and D A Carson. TO Top it off I met Thabiti Anyabwhile, whos blog http://purechurch.blogspot.com/ I greatly enjoy.
The next night I was able to attend a few session with the White Horse Inn guys. Check them out here. http://whitehorseinn.org/
We should have no "Hero" other than Jesus. But we do need people in the church who spur us on to endure, persevere, and seek Soli Deo Gloria.
